I offer a psychotherapy practice online and in Suffolk

My aim is to contribute to meeting local need for easily accessible, high quality psychotherapy services for children and young people and consultation for parents and adult carers.

I offer  a private, confidential, psychotherapy service that prioritizes prompt consultation, assessment and treatment.

I work in partnership with parents and carers to understand the concerns you bring regarding children and young people who may need treatment.  I meet with carers and with young people to explore with you whether your individual needs are best addressed in brief or longer-term psychotherapy, in consultative parent work or or in a different type of therapy.  I will refer you to a professional colleague in a related psychological service if we establish together that is the more appropriate treatment option.

A one-off meeting to talk about difficulties can be a powerful, effective aid to parents, carers and young people.  I am happy to meet with you for one session if that is what we agree.

My profession: I  work as a child and adolescent psychotherapist with children, and their carers.  I am trained to work with children and young people from infancy to early adulthood, up to the age of 25. I am experienced in working with parental couples and with families in transition.

I am  a qualified registered adult counsellor and an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner. I am a  registered and experienced clinical supervisor for psychotherapists and counsellors. I teach on psychotherapy programmes at the University of Exeter and  the Tavistock and Portman Institute, London.

Background:

Having completed the six year professional doctoral level training at the Tavistock and Portman Institute, London,  I am registered as a child and adolescent psychotherapist with the national professional body, the ACP (Association of Child Psychotherapists). I am a qualified adult counsellor and a member of the BACP, (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am a trained and registered supervisor. More recently I have undertaken trainings in trauma including  EMDR.

I  worked in the NHS for many years, in CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health service), treating children, young people and their families. I have experience as a therapist working in therapeutic residential settings for young children and adolescents and of  working with children in care settings.  I consult to organizations involved in children in care and I offer training to staff supporting therapeutic interventions.

Commitment to those with whom I work:

I work within the ethical framework of the professional bodies to which I belong, the ACP, the TSP (Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists) the BPS (British Psychoanalytic Council)  the BACP, (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and the EMDR Association UK.

As a professional psychotherapist I am also accredited  with the Register of the Professional Standards Authority, the national body that regulates professional standards.
